Welcome to the Golden Age Comics Wiki

                                POW!

Action Comics #1 went on sale at newsstands in April 1938 and the first superhero, Superman, was born! In a flash, the issue sold out and the Golden Age of Comic Books was born!

This wiki covers all of it, from the 1933 birth of the modern comic book though the 1940s superhero boom and bust through the Post-World War II western, crime, horror and romance comics trends until the birth of the Comics Code Authority in the mid-1950s.

The ultimate goal of this wiki is to chronicle information on all American comic books of all genres published between 1933 and 1955.

The Golden Age of Comic Books was a period of time when Comic Books were at their finest. Some of the greatest writers and artists took center stage and left a legacy for generations of kids and Comic Book industry workers alike. DC Comics (formerly National) and Timely Comics (later known as Atlas Comics and finally as Marvel Comics) rose but were second to Captain Marvel and Fawcett Comics. Nonetheless, the Golden Age is probably best remembered for the birth of the first major superhero, Superman.
